The Valley Youth Hockey Travel League consists of 5 teams divided based on age. The travel teams participate in the Carolina Hockey League (
CHL) and compete in the Carolina Amateur Hockey Association (
CAHA) and the Potomac Valley Amateur Hockey Association (
PVAHA).

While no player is allowed to play in a younger age group than required by USA Hockey regulations, parents may request that their child be allowed to "play up" in an older age group. All requests to play up must be submitted in writing and must be approved by the Coaches Committee. Requests should include a careful and complete explanation of the reasoning for asking to play up and should detail the player's recent playing history and the name of his/her coach during the preceding season.
