General Policy
VYHA will set aside an amount of money to offset player's fees who, because of financial reasons, request funds. The funds will be donated by an outside organization/individual or through a specific fundraiser designed for scholarships.
Amounts granted will range from $250.00 to $500.00 per player and granted funds must be used to help offset said player's Valley Youth Hockey dues. Full scholarships may be considered in extreme cases.
Scholarships are open to all traveling team players who meet the application and criteria for funds.
If a player receives a scholarship and does not respect standard VYHA Policies or USA Hockey guidelines, he or she will forfeit his or her rights to apply for a scholarship in the future.
The VYHA Executive Board of Directors makes the decision on all financial assistance through this program.
If a family is requesting scholarship assistance, they will be required to actively participate in any VYHA fundraising events in order to qualify for scholarship monies.
Process
The applicant should submit an
application to an Executive Board member of Valley Youth Hockey (consists of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) or through the player's coach.
The VYHA board and coaches will exercise extreme caution to keep all applications and information received confidential.
The VYHA Executive Board will review applications and approve or deny requests based on eligibility as of the date of the application, the number of applicants, the financial criteria, the amount of available funds and other factors considered relevant by the board. The board members will meet as soon as possible to review applications.
Payment will be made directly to the team budget for payment of player dues.
