Fundraising / Sponsorship

Fundraising

VYHA provides numerous fundraising initiatives throughout the year. Funds collected from these initiatives in the form of merchandise sales and other activities help VYHA in two major capacities. A percentage of each sale goes to VYHA to help defray costs associated with all areas of hockey operations and to provide equipment upgrades. The other percentage helps defray individual player costs for league dues. The more funds a player can raise, the lower their individual league fees will be.

In the long run, everyone wins. Fundraising supporters receive valuable merchandise and servcies while simultaneously help VYHA players play in a superior hockey environment and lessening their personal financial impact.

Some planned fundraising activities and merchandise for the upcoming 2008-09 hockey season include:

	Kroger Cards are $5 pre-loaded (with $5). 5% of Kroger expenditures through your card, which includes gas and groceries, will be credited to your account. See your team manager for Kroger cards.
	Roanoke Express caps - $15
.	Five foot square (60" x 60") Stadium Blanket - $60 - Red with a black border
.	5 1/2" Round Magnet - $10

Sponsorship

VYHA is fortunate to have a number of corporate sponsors dedicated to supporting youth hockey in the Roanoke area. Sponsorship is a win-win deal for our sponsors and our players. Funding provided by our sponsors helps pay for equipment maintenance and upgrades along with other costs associated with operating a youth hockey organization. In exchange, sponsors are provided with numerous platforms for advertising and furthering exposure of their business. VYHA youth hockey teams compete in the Roanoke Civic Center as well as other venues throughout the Mid-Atlantic region which provides a significant geographic extent for displaying the logos from our corporate sponsors.

Other Supporters

This year VYHA and the Virginia Tech Hokie Hockey team will be more closely supporting each other's efforts to expand their collective fan and participant bases throughout Southwest Virginia. Please come out to support the Hokies this season. All of their home games are held at the Roanoke Civic Center. Be on the lookout during these games for additional VYHA participation as we show our support for the Hokies.

Remembering Ken Sheeran - The Virginia Tech Ice Hockey Team coaches Mike Spradlin, David Maxey and Evan Maxey played under the leadership of Ken Sheeran during our youth. If it were not for his and many others tireless efforts to support our growth and development, we would not be able to participate at this level in hockey today. We are saddend by his great loss that occurred with his passing on August 27, 2008. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and hockey family!
